11. Let’s in reported speech
Let’s ile başlayan cümleler suggest + V ing şeklinde veya should kullanılarak rivayet edilir.

He said “Let’s change the furniture in the living room.” “Hadi oturma odasındaki mobilyayı değiştirelim.” dedi o.

He suggested changing the furniture in the living room. Oturma odasındaki mobilyayı değiştirmeyi önerdi.

He suggested that they should change the furniture in the living room. Oturma odasındaki mobilyayı değiştirmeleri gerektiği önerisinde bulundu.

12. Yes and no in reported speech
Yes ve no uygun bir yardımcı fiille rivayet edilir.

My mother said ‘Did you buy it?’ I said no.
My mother asked me if I had bought it. I said I hadn’t.

My friend, “Can you swim?”, I said “Yes”
My friend asked me if I could swim. I said I could.

13. Must in reported speech : must
Sonuç çıkarmalarda must aynen kalır.

The man said, “That little boy helps everybody. He must be kind-hearted.” Adam “Şu küçük çocuk herkese yardım ediyor. İyi kalpli olmalı.”

The man said that the little boy helped everybody and added that he must be kind-hearted. Adam çocuğun herkese yardım ettiğini söyledi ve iyi kalplı olsa gerek diye ilave etti.

Kalıcı ve sürekliliğini muhafaza eden emir cümlelerinde de must değişmez.

The president said, “Everybody must be obediend to the Creator.” Başkan “Herkes Yaratıcı’ya karşı itaatli olmalı” dedi.

The president said that everybody must be obediend to the Creator. Başkan herkesin Yaratıcı’ya karşı itaatli olmaları gerektiğini söyledi.

Tavsiye ve niyet bildiren durumlarda must aynen kalır.

My friend said “You must see a doctor.” Arkadaşım “Doktora görünmelisin.” dedi.

My friend told me that I must see a doctor. Arkadaşım doktora görünmem gerektiğini söyledi.

Geleceğe yönelik mecburiyet bildiren must eğer o isi hala tamamlanmamışsa would have to ile anlatılır. Eğer tamamlanmışsa had to kullanılır.

My father “Your brother-in-law lost his job at that company. You must find him another job.”
Babam “Enişten o şirketteki işini kaybetti ona başka bir iş bulmalısın.” dedi.

Burada mecburiyet geleceğe dönüktür. Yani; must = will have to dur. Söz rivayet edildiği sırada eğer iş hala bulunmak zorunda ise, would have to kullanılır.

My father told me that my brother-in-law had lost his job in the company and added that I would have to find him another job.

Söz rivayet edildiği sırada is eğer bulunmuşsa, had to kullanılır.

My father told me that my brother-in-law had lost his job and anned that I had to find another job.

Görüldüğü gibi aktarma esnasında iş bulunmuştur.


Mustn’t değişmez.
Arif said “You mustn’t smoke. ”
Arif said I mustn’t smoke.

Needn’t çoğunlukla değişmez
Zühal, “You needn’t come tomorrow.”
Zühal said I needn’t come the following day.

Must daki durumlar gibi needn’t da didn’t have to, wouldn’t have to olarak rivayet edilebilir.

The workers “We needn’t go to work next week.”
The workers said they wouldn’t have to go to work next week.”

Burada geleceğe dönük bir vakıa vardır. Henüz olay gerçekleşmiş değildir. Yani hafta hala gelmemiştir.

Eğer bahsedilen hafta sözün nakledildiği sırada gelip geçmiş olsa bu sefer didn’t have to ve the following week kullanırız.

The workers said they didn’t have to go to work the following week.

Zaman dilimi yani next week bitmiştir. Bu yüzden the following week kullanırız.
